MAIN OBJECTIVES
- Plays a key role in maximizing unit revenue and profitability
- Manages both short-term and long-term demand forecasting, ensuring the impact of changes in competition, schedules and fares is analysed and reflected in demand expectations
- Plans and monitors performance of special event periods in order to extract maximum value from these peak periods
- Responsible for route/flight level and overbooking strategies
MAIN DUTIES
1. Develop inventory strategies and ensure implementation is aligned with the company’s financial goals and objectives
2. Manages both short-term and long-term demand forecasting, ensuring the impact of changes in competition, schedules and fares is analysed and reflected in demand expectations
3. Analyses the impact on demand from changes in competition, schedules and fares and makes appropriate adjustments to the demand forecasts
4. Consistently reviews reports to spot shifts in demand and communicates these shifts across the Revenue Management team
5. Plans and monitors performance of special event periods in order to extract maximum value from these peak periods
6. Uses the Revenue Management system to identify issues, drill-down and take actions to rectify and maximise network revenue
7. Maintains system overrides and adjustments as required in the Revenue Management system
8. Monitors availability at the O&D level to ensure the output of the network optimization results in a realistic available price position vs competition
9. Monitors flight level performance to identify flights which may fill too early resulting in dilution of revenue and takes action to address
10. Monitors flight level performance to identify flights where inventory control was too restrictive resulting in loss of sales and takes action to address
11. Monitors flight level performance and works closely with Regional Inventory Manager to flag opportunities for upgrade/downgrade to the Network Planning team
12. Works closely with the Pricing team to communicate shifts in demand and opportunities this may present, ensuring strategies are aligned
13. Works closely with the Groups team to develop strategies for acceptance of group traffic
14. Responsible for setting route/flight level overbooking strategies, monitoring the effectiveness of these strategies and taking actions to improve performance
15. Manages no-show and cancellation forecasts and makes adjustments to future forecasts
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Educated to university degree level, ideally in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a similar analytical based subject.
Highly PC literate with a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Good standard of written/spoken English required.
EXPERIENCE
Revenue Management experience, ideally in the airline industry, would be preferable but is not essential.
The capability to process and analyse complex data and make decisions based on that data is essential.
The jobholder should possess strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
