MAIN OBJECTIVES
To ensure that passengers are holding valid travel documents appropriate for their intended destination and onward travel arrangements.
Ensure that baggage is correctly reconciled with passengers boarded.
To scrutinize and investigate the validity of the travel documents of suspected passengers in liaison with the Airport Immigration and Embassy Officials with a view to preventing the carriage of inadmissible passengers. Thereby to protect the airline against liability to penalties that may imposed by the Government of the destination State.
MAIN DUTIES
Scrutinize travel documents of all passengers of selected nationalities, traveling to or via selected countries in order to identify stolen, expired, forged and fraudulently presented travel documents of all types and descriptions. The objective being to detect and intercept prospective illegal immigrants, facilitators and their smugglers.
Conduct discreet profiling of passengers from suspected points of origin or from particular regions with a view to identifying imposters and substitutes. (To be achieved through the employment of special questioning techniques, together with interpersonal and language skills).
Use the system provided, scan the image of travel document carried by passengers, check for any fraud documents, and communicate with various agencies involved, across the world.
Provide advice and guidance to check-in staff and to staff from other stations and to make decisions on whether to accept or reject the travel documents (passport, identity cards, visa, and tickets) of suspected passengers. To facilitate the offloading of suspect passengers and their baggage and to ensure correct reconciliation.
Work closely with Immigration, Consular and Embassy officials at station to maximize co-operation in identifying the suspected travelers joining or transferring at station.
Maintain close and regular contact with other embassy and consular representatives of countries at destination to identify forged and fraudulent documents. Establish and maintain familiarity with individual government regulations regarding dual nationalities etc. Exchange intelligence information regarding movements, behavior and manner of traveling of illegal immigrants and their smugglers.
Accept responsibility for the decisions to offload passengers and to prepare reports and provide back up documentation supporting such actions. Assist in the compilation of inadmissible passenger statistics.
Preserve copies of forged and fraudulent documents at the station for future inquiries, and training purposes and where appropriate ensure that the operating crew carries such copies to countries at destination.
Compile reports on intercepted passengers so as to assist the company in its legal appeals to foreign immigration authorities at destination to waive the fines that have been imposed on GF. In doing so to preserve the company’s Approved Gate Control status in this respect.
Keep abreast with the latest development in the field of forgery, especially, in terms of changes in the style and format of travel documents and the modus operandi of illegal immigrants.
To be able use sophisticated forensic detection equipment, training aids and other devices where appropriate to facilitate high rates of detection.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
HND or equivalent level.
Excellent human relations and interaction skills are required to work effectively in confrontation situations often while under severe constraints of time and mental stress. Some conflict resolution ability will be required.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic (desirable).
High level of motivational self-starter skill.
Should be personal computer literate.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years experience in detection of forged travel or similar official / legal documents in one of the major airports, immigration, police or consular activities.
Customer / passenger interface experience would be advantageous.
