JOB PURPOSE

• The principal role of this position is to support in developing and executing environmental procedures, strategies, and action plans to ensure pollution prevention techniques applied and the environment is protected during all time.

• The role of this position is also assisting Environment and Sustainability Section Head to ensure compliance with local regulations such as Supreme Council for Environment, international environmental standards, and ISO 14001.

• The position should provide expert opinions in environmental, and sustainability matters and provide recommendations on latest environmental technologies, best practices, and international standards that are applicable at GFG, GF, BAC and BIA.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Introduce environmental and sustainability programs that promote a positive environment culture throughout GFG and it subsidiary and sister companies, stakeholders, and community.

• Support the Head in developing, implementing, and maintaining the environment management system and ensure that the system is followed by all Group departments and for any activity being carried out.

• Plan awareness programs on environmental and sustainability requirements/ pollution control & prevention/ sustainable development.

• Support Head Environmental and sustainability in developing and enhancing the environmental Monitoring program and its implementation for GFG activities, stakeholders, and contractors.

• Inspect facilities, identifying potentially environmental hazards and provide engineering solution.

• Provide recommendations on various processes and improvements that will reduce environmental risks and pollution.

• Develop a high-level understanding of workplace processes and equipment to best discern opportunities for improvement and the elimination of any potential environmental impacts.

• Perform root cause analysis for environmental incidents that occur within BIA to prevent reoccurrence.

• Provide regular updates to the Head Environment and Sustainability on environmental matters.

• Maintain knowledge of relevant and up to date environmental laws, legislation, latest technologies, and best practices to ensure that BIA follows and implements the best industry standards and practices within Bahrain and relevant external accrediting bodies.

• Perform regular audits on internal and external stakeholder ensuring that all environmental and sustainability policies and procedures are being followed and ensuring the overall protection of environment.

• Perform Ad-hoc tasks as requested by Environment and Sustainability Head.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Education / Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in environment engineering or environment science or bachelor’s degree in any engineering but with professional certificate in environment (e.g. Nebosh Environment, ISO 14001, etc.) or environmental experience.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant field.

Job Specific Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with relation to Safety and Solution Engineering.

• Awareness of industry procedures and best practice and key industry environmental principles.
