MAIN OBJECTIVE

The job holder is responsible for processing and supervising claims as well providing statements/statistics on insurance matters of Gulf Air and its Associated Companies. The job holder assists Manager Group Insurance in the administration and handling of insurance requirements of Gulf Air and its Associated Companies.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Aircraft Spares Policy claims and adjustments handling.

2. Personal Accident, Group Life/Permanent Total Disability, Employer’s Liability/Workmen’s Compensation Life Policies of Gulf Air and associated Companies:

a. Notify the insurers of accident illness/sickness/disability under this policy and submission of the claims.

b. Contact with Medical Clinic, Personnel Dept. and other associated companies for Medical Certificate/disability Certificate and clarifications. Contact with insurers’ regarding the amount to be recovered and payment of the amount recovered to Gulf Air and the associated companies.

c. Prepare the claims experience for Personal Accident/Employer’s Liability/Group Life for the purpose of renewal and negotiate with related insurers.

d. Obtain certificate for medical insurance cover for staff as and when required.

e. Prepare wages and salaries schedule of all Gulf Air employers and associated companies.

f. Obtain statistic information for the purpose of renewal.

3. Assist Manager Group Insurance in Passenger, Baggage and Cargo Liability Claims handling and processing, including legal cases.

4. Assist Manager Group Insurance in the handling of aviation hull claims.

5. Create, update and send Liability Claims Bordereau to Insurers.

6. Follow up on payments/settlements to and from Insurers.

7. Follow up on settlements to external parties; claimants, lawyers, etc.

8. Handle flight diversion claims.

9. Handle aircraft hull deductible claims.

10. Assist Manager Group Insurance in the handling of policy adjustments.

11. Handle non-aviation claims in respect of GF and Associated Companies. This includes claims under the following insurances:

a. Motor

b. Computer Equipment

c. Communication Equipment

d. Flight Simulators

e. Property Damage

f. Machinery

g. Money

h. Stores In transit

i. Deterioration of food staff

12. Preparation of Non-Aviation Insurance Schedules of Gulf Air and Associated Companies.

13. Provide GF Associated with necessary updates.

14. Monthly accounting; update and generate Journal Vouchers. Pass accruals and reconcile the same in respect of insurance premiums.

15. Prepare premium & claims statistics.

16. Provide the functional co-ordination efforts between HR, medical services and staff in Gulf Air and associated companies availing medical insurance services, and the insurance company to ensure that eligible members are duly enrolled in the medical scheme. Arrange for applicable deductions of insurance premiums from staff members and associated reconciliations.

17. Prepare information sources to eligible members on utilisation of medical insurance policy.

18. Reconcile the premium amounts charged and returned by the insurance company in respect of the additions and deletions of under the medical insurance scheme members.

19. Verify premium invoices for processing by Accounts Payable from medical insurance premium suspense account.

20. Raise invoices on associated companies that are part of the medical insurance placement in respect of premiums to the insurance company, in addition to a management fee for Gulf Air’s administration on their behalf.

21. Advice and share expertise with outstation Financial Controllers for effective negotiations of medical insurance schemes at the outstations.

22. Facilitate distribution/ collection of medical insurance cards.

23. Prepare and review premium & claims statistics and advice management as required from insurance perspective.

24. Lead renewal negotiations between insurance company and Gulf Air with the required support of Group Insurance Manager for HDQ medical insurance policy.

25. Negotiate and develop contracts for providing medical insurance services to associated companies whilst ensuring maximising the opportunity to generate revenue.

26. Provide assistance to Out-Stations (General Manager or Financial Controller) in purchasing of and negotiating Out-Station medical insurance policies.

27. Regularly monitor claims status levels and follow-up with the insurance company for effective resolution of claims.

28. Receive and verify reimbursement claim documents (verifying completeness).

29. Process reimbursement claims in a weekly bordereaux.

30. Review the weekly approval of reimbursement claims from insurance company.

31. Process payments through Easy for settlement of medical insurance claims of Gulf Air staff at HDQ.

Education & Experience

University degree in business field.

Excellent written and spoken English (Arabic desirable)

To be familiar with various Aviation and Non-Aviation insurance policies.

Some accounting background preferred.

Good computer skills, particularly use of Microsoft Office.

Approximately 5 to 7 years experience in insurance related matters.
