JOB PURPOSE
  • To handle all Airport Access Control activities to reasonably ensure strict compliance to  Aviation Security requirements as per the ASP, and inline with   positive customer service and facilitation to relevant BIA stakeholders. 

  • To assist in performing a variety of AVSEC related  duties, which would require AVSEC, operations and facilitation knowledge for airport operations,  thus facilitating for regulated and specified movement (at times under escort)  for persons other than passengers. 

  • To verify, analyze and take the necessary decisions and actions for all   access control matters in line with the established national and international requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Airport Access Control Responsibilities

  • Ensure the day-to-day operation of the Airport Access Control and comply with security requirements in ASP.

  • Check and review records, forms or other documents of various kinds pertinent to assigned functions.

  • Process, obtain clearance and approve airport security passes and key applications according to established procedures and urgency of requests.

  • Process, administer and issue airside driving licenses and airport vehicle permits.

  • Process the issuance and return of airport security passes, airside driving licenses, airport vehicle permits, and key applications and requests according to AVSEC procedures.

  • Respond to inquiries (mail, phone, email, in-person) including communication internally and externally.

  • Positive evolution of Security KPI’s No. of incidents reported

  • No. and level of evaluated findings

  • Adhere to all airport pass, driving or vehicle applications, together with key management policies, and report clearly and concisely on any incidents that may have occurred.

  • Physically audit pass holders at different zones of the airport with regards to operational need for the particular location. 

  • Assist in the compilation of Access Control monthly reports based on data collection and analysis from all shifts.  Also assist in the development and administration of any other required reports.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by 'Head Airport Access Control’ or any deputizing person

  • Provide friendly, customer oriented, and efficient services.

  • Through SACS systems carry out movement and access control analysis of pass holders and generate reports to VP AVSEC & RFFS.

  • Restrict electronic access for individual pass holders in a timely manner as directed by MoI Police or BAC VP AVSEC & RFFS.

  • Receive, assess and process key duplication request and ensure the requested keys are allocated only on a strictly needs basis. 

  • Ensure that once an employee leaves his/her respective department/entity any designated/handed over key(s) are handed back to the Access Control Office

  • Perform any other tasks as directed by Head of Access Control from time to time

    Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide general clerical assistance such as filing, dealing with staff requests, correspondence, etc., and serves as a primary reference source for function to assist departments and employees in resolving discrepancies or procedural problems utilizing knowledge of specialized function. 

  • To assign access control levels and zones. 

  • Together with Head Access Control and VP AVSEC & RFFS coordinate with MOI Airport Police and NSA to verify and allocate requested access - based on risk assessment for individual / entity. 

  • Organized Archive System

  • Delivery of tasks in terms of timeliness and outcome against plans

  • Deputize as necessary when head access control is not available or absent; and attend meetings on his/her behalf. 

  • In the absence of AVSEC Managerial Team (Weekends/after hours) take the necessary and timely decisions with regards to Access Control issues.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or similar preferred

Experience

Minimum 2 years' experience in Security in a similar role.
