JOB PURPOSE
Support the Gulf Air Group legal function as a Group-level role, building and running shared legal infrastructure – process, contract lifecycle management, legal technology (including AI tools), templates, playbooks, data and reporting – used by both the Gulf Air (airline) and Bahrain Airport Company (airport) pillars. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Engineer makes the legal more efficient and data driven. While the role serves the whole Group, in practice the Gulf Air (airline) workstream – the largest book of work – will generate the greatest demand.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Intake, Process & Ways of Working
Review and design the legal intake and routing across the Group – how work comes into Legal, is prioritized and reaches the right team.
Optimize the process based on how the team works and find practical ways to improve processes and ways of working across the airline, airport and Group – collaborating rather than working in a silo.
Systems & Infrastructure (Group)
Build and run the Group’s shared legal systems – file and document management, the contract management system, and the litigation and other legal registers.
Maintain system configurations, user access, and data integrity within legal platforms
Act as a focal point between Legal, IT, and vendors for system enhancements and issue resolution
Technology, Automation & AI
Build and maintain templates, playbooks and checklists used by both the airline and airport pillars.
Support the implementation, administration, and optimization of legal technology tools (e.g., contract lifecycle management systems, document automation tools, legal trackers).
Select, configure and run legal tools, including document automation and AI use cases.
Data, Reporting & KPIs
Develop and maintain the Legal Dashboard and KPI reporting – tracking workload, external legal spends and turnaround times.
Keep legal data clean and consistent across the Group contract registries.
Ensure accuracy, organization, and accessibility of legal data
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in law, Engineering, Information Systems, Data / Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field – or equivalent practical experience.
Six Sigma certification is desired.
Background in legal operations, legal technology, data or process improvement; practical experience with contract-management systems and legal tools matters more than years of experience or formal legal qualifications
